Welcome to a new school year at Dawes!
This year promises lots of learning, adventure, and fun. This is my 13th year here at Dawes, and my 11th year teaching the 5th grade TWI students. I’m happy to be part of this awesome school community. My journey to this classroom has involved teaching stints in the district in both 3rd and 5th TWI classroom, as well as a year working as teachers’ aide in the Kindergarten classroom here at Dawes. I earned Bachelors in Spanish from The University of Iowa and my Masters in Elementary Education from Loyola University.
My father is from the Dominican Republic, where I spent most summers growing up, as well as a year living and studying abroad. My wife and I also try to use our time to see as much of the world as possible while we can. This summer, I had a fantastic time spending time with my 2 daughters Mia (10) and Macaylah (8). Both are attending Bessie Rhodes here in District 65!
